Who's Afraid of Donald Trump?

Donald Trump speaking at CPAC 2015 in Washington, DC.
Donald Trump speaking at CPAC 2015 in Washington, DC.
I was sitting in a doctor's waiting room when two men walked in the door, holding hands. As they approached the front desk, one man put his arm on the other's shoulder, giving it a soft pat of reassurance. At the same time, I heard the woman sitting next to me click her tongue. When I turned to look at her, she shook her head sadly. "I can't get used to this," she said. "It's against everything I was taught growing up. It's just wrong."

"If it doesn't hurt you or change your life in any way, why is it wrong?" I asked.

"I'm too old to change now," she said, and turned her attention to the magazine in her lap, cutting off the conversation.

For a moment, I studied her thinning grey hair, her face which had a few more wrinkles than mine. There weren't that many years between us and yet, I felt decades younger than her. At home, I told my husband about the encounter and asked, "Why do we accept change so easily? Why are we so different from this woman?"

He didn't have an answer either. Then, I saw Gloria Steinem interviewed on TV and she was asked what she felt her most important contribution was. She responded that she couldn't possibly know that since she was still active. "I am always future oriented," she said.

And that is the difference. My husband and I are still future oriented. Although we remember past events fondly and even recount them, our lives are not rooted there; we are still making new memories. We not only embrace change; we encourage it. The right of gay people to marry, adopt children, live and work without discrimination should have been a reality ages ago. Unlike Supreme Court Justice Scalia, I believe in Affirmative Action and feel African-Americans should have the right to an education at any college they chose.

I am not afraid of the Muslim people. I welcome Muslim settlement in our country and invite them to make their home here just like the Jewish immigrants, the Irish, the Italians, the Japanese, the Chinese. They want the same things that my grandparents wanted when they traveled across the ocean to a better life in this country.

I AM afraid of mentally ill white men who have access to as many guns as they want. And I must admit that I am afraid of the people who attend rallies for Donald Trump, who cheer him on, who believe the outrageous things he says. They are the woman in the waiting room, the people who stopped the buses filled with Mexican children last summer, the individuals who attempt to burn down mosques. They are living in the past, afraid of change and afraid of anything or anybody that encourages them to accept an inclusive future.

Now, instead of wondering why I am future oriented, why I can accept new ideas, I wonder why some people can't. I wonder if there is a way to help these people conquer their fear of change, to help them understand that change is how we grow, both as a person and as a nation. I want to tell them that we all benefit from accepting new ideas, new ways of doing things and, above all, new people.

We are enriched by each group of immigrants that enter our country. They are our future doctors, lawyers, writers, teachers, philosophers. In one or two generations, we won't even remember that they were once the new immigrants because, by that time there will be another group to take their place.

And now, I am wondering what I can do, what all of us can do to help people who can't accept a changing world, to embrace a new wave of immigrants to our country, to allow them to make us richer by introducing us to their culture and religion. Perhaps all we can do is speak up when we hear anti-gay slurs or hate speech against any race or religion. But we need to respond in some way; we cannot allow those people who are afraid of change or afraid of immigrants to shape the message of this country. We need to speak up, all of us who know how to look forward.

International Calling Cards & International Phone Cards

Partner Phone Card
Partner Phone Card
Traveling abroad very often? Worried about the high expense you incur in making calls back home and work? Don't sweat! With international calling cards you cut your long distance phone bills but almost 50%. Moreover, you benefit from being able to make calls to almost 50+ different countries globally at economical rates, whenever you want.

Having to pay less for talking more is a great benefit of international phone cards. These telephone cards allow you to not just call long distances in your own country, but you can call up your family, friends, and employees who are stationed outside your country. Whether you need to call your friend to say a 'Hello' because you miss them, or you want to discuss an important business development with your employee/colleague/boss, you can now avoid paying huge bills by using international calling cards. But, that's not all. When you use an international phone card you also enjoy full freedom and low rates depending on your calling card company.

Types of International Calling Cards
Basically, there are two types of calling cards - disposable or refillable. Most of the international calling cards come with their own PIN. You can buy international calling cards in different denominations. Depending on the charge/minute for your particular calling card, you'll be debited for it either directly or then the charge will be applied to your fixed line billing account. You can pay for your usage with either your credit card or a prepaid credit system. Again this is dependent on your service provider. Most phone cards have varying methods of payment and each can be used for multiple requirements to make international, long distance calls.

Master Cent Phone Card
Master Cent Phone Card
Nowadays you get two types of international phone cards. One type comes with a remote memory, while the other comes with stored value. Cards with stored value have a pre-fed amount of dollars that can be spent on making long distance or overseas calls. For ex: If you buy a card worth $5, you'll be able to make calls worth $5 or less (depending on the fees, taxes etc) till the time the amount of credit gets exhausted. When using pre-fed cards from pay-phones, you simply have to dial the toll-free numbers and enter your PIN when prompted. The pay-phone would then be able to read your card balance and allow you make a new call if the balance allows it.

As far as remote memory international calling cards are concerned, they too have a toll-free number facility. Each time you want to make a new overseas call, you'll have to punch in the toll-free number and follow the instructions of the voice in order to make that call. You can also know your card balance by dialing the toll-free number.

Why Use International Calling Cards
Finally, international phone cards and calling cards are worth the investment because they give you the freedom and flexibility to call back home at lower rates, when you want, and where you maybe. Moreover, there is a wide choice of phone cards including pre-paid and post-paid calling card. So, now there is no stopping you from staying in touch with your family and friends.

CCNA Study Guides - How To Learn The CCNA

Having a CCNA will greatly increase your chance of a successful job interview and make your CV stand out to the competition as it shows that you are fluent in basic networking skills and principles. It shows a thorough understanding of computer network concepts and how LANs and WANs not only work, but also how they fit together.

Learning how to achieve the qualification is the first step and applying your mind to the necessary study and revision is a task in itself. It is all well and good trying to read as many books on subject matter as possible however this is never going to let you get the knowledge and more importantly, the understanding, required to pass a CCNA exam. Hands on practice is an important skill to have and being able to set up a lab environment will help to see how things fit together and work.

To start with, if you can get hold of one or two old Cisco 1800 or 2600 routers and a network switch then you are half way to getting a decent lab environment set up. This will help demonstrate the routing side of the CCNA course involving topics such as OSPF, EIGRP, RIP and other routing protocols.

If it is possible to get two switches (of the 3500 + variety) then it may also help you understand switching concepts along the likes on setting up and implementing VLANs, Etherchannel technologies and so on. If you are lucky enough to be able to have a Cisco 3560 switch or better then you will also be able to investigate topics such as high availability technology in the form of HSRP and GLBP protocols. Even the smallest about of hands on experience will be better than none and the reason being is that if it is possible to apply theory into practice then the more will go in and stay in.

Of course one of the best forms of learning are the official books from Cisco which contain all the course matter necessary to pass the exams. They mark in the key topics involved and also test you section by section in your knowledge before the topic starts so it is possible to see what areas need to be worked on to make it sink in.

Finding the best CCNA study guides to use is quite a task but once you have a method that will work for you, then it will stay in your mind as one progresses up the Cisco chain.

The Leading Cause of Illness, Disability & Death Is Prescription Drugs

"Every drug is by definition a poison. Pharmacology and toxicology are one, and the art of medicine is to use these poisons beneficially." This statement from "Drill's Pharmacology in Medicine" was shared by the Dean of LLU's School of Public Health, Dr. Mervyn Hardinge. He had a PhD degree in pharmacology and previously chaired the pharmacology department.

Pharmacology evolved from toxicology that studied how much of a chemical would kill half the animals. The science has been refined, but the direction hasn't changed. We may be pain-free, but the more medicine we take, the sooner we are likely to die. Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine said, Nature cures... let your food be your medicine.

But it's cumbersome to see dozens of patients a day and try to find out what they eat or don't eat and MD's really aren't trained in that area. So medicine offers the ability to see people quickly with symptomatic help that they are looking for and the whole "healthcare" system (falsely so-called) profits from the way it's done.

Sadly, the 106,000 deaths reported in the Journal of AMA, 4-15-1998 are just the tip of the iceberg. Two years later, the Western Journal of Medicine reported 199,000 deaths as outpatients. Combining this with the prior study in hospitals, it makes 305,000 deaths per year reported 15 years ago.

Then the Archives of Internal Medicine reported that deaths rose 2.7-fold from 1998 to 2005 for reasons they couldn't understand, though the drug ads on TV approved by Congress were still working well. And given 8 more years, we could expect another 2.7-fold increase making it 5.4 since 2000 with 305,000 deaths. 5.4 x 305,000 = 1,647,000 deaths from drugs "properly prescribed and administered." Three 9-11's every 2 days!

The author moved to Maryland and was visiting US Senate offices with medical literature showing this info when a senator said, You are wasting your time-they own us! (speaking of pharmaceutical donations to their re-election campaigns). Congress appears to be sold out and what we call "healthcare" is buyer beware.

This brings us to a biblical message that Babylon is fallen. The word derives from Babel which means confusion. The message in the 18th chapter of Revelation says, Be not partakers of her sins that you receive not of her plagues and it ends reminding us that "all nations" are deceived by her sorcery (pharmakeia is the Greek word). All nations admire western medicine, but nations that use it are on the brink of bankruptcy, says Ruhling who shares this message as a warning that we should beg out of Obamacare that was largely written by the pharmaceutical people for their profits. Carson's right-"it's the worst thing since slavery."

We might ask, How can we get out? Step one is by tuning in to our bodies. While doing Executive Health, this author had an executive say that the sugar bothered his joints. Another man said cheese made his joints ache. A third said that meat gave him arthritis. These were smart men who had figured it out.

It's not as easy as it sounds and the cause of my headaches were a mystery inspite of consulting a neurologist who taught medicine students. He said foods would be "a very rare cause" of my headaches, but later an allergist clarified the problem.

If we become allergic to a food, maybe because we like and abuse it, it can act like nicotine in the sense that people don't get sick when they smoke-they get sick when they don't smoke-on withdrawal. That's how my headaches were. If my lunch didn't have two whole wheat sandwiches, hunger was a problem, so Monday to Friday, it was sandwiches, but on the weekend we ate other things and Monday mornings meant a headache due to a withdrawal from wheat, an unsuspected cause.

Most allergists do skin testing and it works for inhalant allergens but is 80% unreliable for foods. People with problems might find the cause by a week's trial of brown rice and foods they rarely eat. They may get worse for 2-3 days (detox-withdrawal) but should have less symptoms in 5-7 days and then they can put their favorite foods back into their diet (one a day) to see when their symptoms return.

If we were born normal, but 40 or 60 years later when we have problems, we did it by what we put in our mouths. The good news is that we can reverse it. Taking responsibility for our own problem isn't easy, but in the long run, it's better than trusting a prescription that could kill you as happened to my previous wife who died from an antibiotic taken briefly for a urinary infection. If she had drunk more water and tried an herbal remedy, she would probably still be alive.

Richard Ruhling is an MD with a Master's Degree in Public Health. He was board-certified in internal medicine and taught Health Science at Loma Linda University. He enjoys excellent health in mid-70's and encourage others with the possibility of better health and new foods. The best book he's found on natural health is offered cheap on his site at http://bit.ly/1NY3UoJ He also has an eBook, Why You Shouldn't Ask Your Doctor that's on Amazon at no charge Sat, Dec 12 at http://amzn.to/1I22otT Kindle offers a no-charge app for reading eBooks on computers as an easy download

International Calling Cards Makes Calling Made Easier & Reasonable

If your local telephone operator charges you the moon for making international calls, don't sweat! Help is at hand and international calling cards are the way to go. Not only can you make calls to various countries across the world, you also have to pay less for talking more!

International calling cards, as the name suggests, are telephone cards that allow you to call over long distances as well as dial your friends and family residing abroad from the comfort of your home or office. No longer do you have to pay huge bills for speaking to your loved ones abroad, or your client in some other country. With international calling cards you can enjoy complete freedom and low rates.

Types of International Calling Cards

Typically, calling cards are available as disposable or refillable cards. Some of these calling cards also come with a PIN printed on them. Whenever you make an international call, the charge is applied to your land line telephone billing account. Payment can be made using a prepaid credit system or by credit card. While different calling cards have different payment methods, you can use these cards in many different ways to make the necessary calls, but this would depend on the company that's offering you the calling cards.

Currently, the market has two types of international calling cards. One is the stored value calling card, while other is the remote memory calling card. Now, stored value cards already have a pre-fed amount of money that can be used for making international calls. For ex: if you buy an international stored value calling card worth $10, you'll be able to make calls until that amount runs out. The pay-phones read the balance available on your card every time you make a new call and inform you of the available balance once you have completed your call.

On the other hand, remote memory calling cards work on a toll-free number access. Every time you need to dial the toll-free number, follow the instructions to call the number of your choice. The toll-free number also informs you on the available balance and duration of the call.

Why Do We Consume Luxury Goods, But Spend Little Time Enjoying Them?

It can be perceived that day by day, the number of populace investing in Luxury Goods/Services is cumulative. For example, if one was to observe posts on Instagram or Facebook, there would be an increasing number of designer handbags, luxurious meals and luxury cars to be seen. At the same time, it can also be observed that the usage of these products is significantly lower than depicted on social networks. So are people investing in luxury goods and services only for conspicuous consumption?

Conspicuous consumption is a term used to describe investment into luxury goods and services in order to display wealth, or economic power. Veblen (1899) came up with this term when introducing his concept of Veblen goods, which Luxury goods and services fall into. Veblen goods contradict the law of demand. The law of demand states that an increase in price leads to a decrease in quantity demanded. However the price and quantity demanded of Veblen Goods are directly proportional; an increase in price leads to an increase in quantity demanded, and a decrease in price leads to a decrease in quantity demanded.

The reason behind this links once again to the concept of conspicuous consumption. Individuals wish to be seen purchasing expensive goods, in order to appear as wealthier, or stand out by being able to access goods which are not simply accessible for everyone. The use of social media enables individuals to do this as they simply take a photograph of themselves and/or the luxury Veblen good, and display it on Instagram or Facebook for everyone to see. This provides them with the economic power they desire. Social Media has also been a cause of this emerging trend, as it has allowed people to create ideas on how certain goods can give individuals a certain image, and so people can be investing in goods simply to post images of them on social networks, and obtain a certain image within society.

The concept of Veblen Goods and Conspicuous Consumption can therefore be used to explain why individuals spend a prodigious amount of money on luxury goods and services, but spend diminutive time utilising them. It indicates that individuals are more interested in portraying their economic power publicly rather than for their own use. This phenomenon also reveals why an increase in price leads to an increase in demand for these goods, individuals who are able to invest in Veblen Goods are an exception to the general law of demand, in a way that they are more economically powerful, so as a result, achieve their desire of Conspicuous Consumption.

Americans Are Addicted to Indulgence

We Americans have been on a rampant escapade to indulge in just about everything. Stuff ranging from make-up, automobiles, expensive clothing, fast food, slow food, toys, drugs, alcohol, medicine, big screen TV's, iPods, cell phones, houses, gadgets, and the list could go on for quite some time. Think about it to yourself for a second. Think about how much money you have wasted on stuff you do not even have or use anymore. We intend to "one up" our neighbors. We purchase better clothing, bigger TV's, better cars, a bigger boat, a bigger house. We do this because as a society we believe that bigger, better, faster, is the way to be. We purchase this stuff, and some of it is necessary, and some of it is not. We indulge in both the stuff we need, and stuff we do not need. I would like to talk about the stuff we do not need.

Stuff we do not need floods our homes, might I add these are homes we do not even own. Hardly any of us own the cars we drive in. Look around at your friends and ask them if they own their car, I bet the percentage who do own is low. Some of us do not even own the computers we use to purchase all this useless stuff. Instead of saving our money, we spend our money, we borrow more money, we live beyond our means.

Indulgence is like a drug, and most American's are addicted. We have dug a hole so deep its going to be a tuff climb out. Each individual will need to use their own will power to climb out of this mess. Ill say it again, the hole is deep, and it will be an incredible climb. It starts with you, and no one else. Stop the spending and get yourself into financial shape.

We American's must now realize that the unnecessary spending has gone on for to long. It is time to stop the spending. The Federal Reserve is running their printing press 24/7. Our Federal Reserve has printed one trillion dollar bills from 2007-09. These dollars are sitting in commercial banks waiting to be loaned out to American's who want to continue their spending escapades. Do not join in on this trickery, we have done it for to long. The government is not the hand that feeds you, stop giving in to their lies. Government sponsored programs such as health care, only means more tax dollars from your pocket. The American Government is the epitome of indulgence. Do not follow their lead, they are wasteful. It is we American's who keep this system going. If we do not step up, and demand real changes, (not the changes promised to us by Obama, that will never happen), then we as American's are doomed as free people.

The Value of Life

April 3, 2004
The Value of Life

We were engrossed in the Terri Shiavo case this past two weeks most of were sickened about

how politicians wasted time and money on what would be in normal case be a family decision.
What made this situation so important? What made this family so different?
Your answer is as good as mine. However, while my husband and I were listening to Mike Malloy show on Air America he mentioned a story about a six month old little boy named Sun Hudson. Sun Hudson had a fatal genetic disorder which involved the development of lungs.
His mother Wanda felt also that he too would get better in time just like Mrs. Shiavo’s mother. They both could not function with out assistance of machines. Both were victims of George W. Bush politics. Both had laws that would seal or in one case prolong their fate.
So what are the differences between their stories? We all know about Terri Shiavo’s story it has been going on for fifteen years. Little Sun’s story did not leave the city of Houston.
Mrs. Schindler had the support of many powerful attorneys, a litany of famous faces waying in on her case, reporters and clergyman across the country. Ms. Hudson was prevented from having reporters to show her son’s suffering, she had one attorney and no famous faces by her side. The biggest difference between the two cases is that Mrs. Schindler had resources to keep her daughter alive such as the courts and politicians. Ms. Hudson was told to by the Texas Children’s Hospital that her son would be disconnected from life support by 2pm whether she liked it or not. In the state of Texas there is a law called the Futile Care Law in which George W. Bush signed in to law while he was Governor. The law states (and I am paraphrasing), that if a patient is not progressing from treatment or terminal the hospital has the right to withdraw life support and the family has ten days to find another facility that would be willing to take that patient.
Terri’s law was rushed through the state house in Florida and states that if there was no living will or written instructions or family can’t agree then the government will take over. (Once again, I am paraphrasing).
Little Sun nor Terri Shiavo would not have been cured in time that one thing that we do know. So why the three ring circus in Florida and none in Texas? Where were Fox News and all the rest of them when this hospital in Texas decided to pull the plug on this little boy’s life? Terri Shiavo had a choice she stated that she did not want to live in a vegetative state. Little Sun did not have that choice. I can write about the similarities and differences of these stories forever.
But there is one that can’t be denied ..............
Little Sun was black
Terri Schiavo was white.
Was the outcry really for white life?
Something to think about…..
